mother. musician. educator.
My name is Kirsten Murphy and I am a musician, mama, and former Special Education teacher. Before my family and I moved to Providence, RI, I taught supplemental music education to private preschools in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas.
I play guitar, piano, ukulele, and like to fiddle with the banjo. I use puppetry, storybooks, singing, dancing, and lots of hands-on time with instruments to create lessons that engage curiosity, joy, participation, and foster a forever love of music.
It is my deeply held belief that children can find their unique voice through song and the power of their body through movement. Foxtrot Music uses these avenues to create something truly spectacular in early childhood music education.
I offer tailor-made birthday parties with or without themes, as well as, group music events you can host at your home, school, or venue. I specialize in group music classes for kids from 1-6 years of age, and I can accommodate children with differing abilities special needs, or specific challenges.
